PAU Comptroller ‘selected’

Ludhiana, July 24
The name of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Comptroller has been finalised, though it has not been made public. Sources said Mr Gopal Dass, presently an Accounts Officer in the office of the Director Research, would be the next Comptroller.

His appointment would be approved at a meeting of the PAU Board of Management in Chandigarh on July 30. He would replace Mr S.K. Bhatia who was going to retire on July 31.

The PAU had interviewed five candidates for the post of the Comptroller on July 22. Those who were interviewed included Mr Satpal Sharma, Accounts Officer in the office of the Dean College of Agriculture; Mr Gopal Dass, Mr G.L. Arora, Mr Tirlok Singh and Mr J.P. Jindal.

Lok Adalats on July 28

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 24
Two quarterly Lok Adalats would be organised to dispose of the cases of undertrial prisoners at Fatehgarh Sahib and Amloh on July 28, 2001. Giving details, Mr Mahinder Pal, District and Sessions Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib, said all the litigants relating to such pending cases in the courts have been advised to get their cases solved with mutual consent of both parties in these Lok Adalats, to avoid lengthy court procedure. He also called upon the lawyers to persuade their clients for bringing their cases to Lok Adalats.
