Naxalites kill MLA’s kin
Warangal, July 1
Naxalites gunned down the father-in-law of Cheriyala Congress MLA N. Rajalingam at Bekkal village in Andhra Pradesh’s Warangal district early today. According to the police, a group of People’s War Group Naxalites barged into the house of Ravula Ramaswamy (70) and took him to the village outskirts. They later shot him dead, the police said. PTI

Dalit burnt alive
Banda (Uttar Pradesh), July 1 
A Dalit youth Ram Sewak Keri, was burnt to death by his own relatives following a land dispute in Tilhari village near Shrinagar in the district, the police said today. He was sleeping in his house along with his wife and son when he was attacked by his uncle and cousins last night, the police said. PTI

Mild quake felt
Pune, July 1
An earthquake of slight intensity was recorded in Bhuj at 1.50 a.m. today. The earthquake measured 4.6 on the Richter Scale and had its epicentre at latitude 23.4° north and longitude 69.9° east in Bhuj, the Indian Meteorological Department bulletin said here today. UNI
