New Delhi, June 14
The Slovak police has arrested two Indians and a Sri Lankan in connection with the drowning of 17 illegal Indian immigrants while crossing the murky waters of Morava river on Monday. The authorities have so far recovered only one body. The police had suspended its search for those missing yesterday. The immigrants were trying to travel to the west across the Morava, which divides Slovakia from the neighbouring Czech Republic. They were travelling to Germany via the Czech Republic. Official sources said here that the Indians arrested were Suresh Paul and Jasbir Singh. No travel documents were seized from them. The sources confirmed that Jasbir had been shifted to a detention centre. The authorities received reports on Monday that a group of Indian immigrants had drowned while trying to cross the river.
