Bandh hits life in Darjeeling
Siliguri, April 11
Life continued to remain paralysed in three hill subdivisions of Darjeeling district as the GNLF sponsored indefinite bandh entered the third day on Wednesday. The entire hills wore a deserted look with all shops and business establishments downing their shutters and vehicles keeping off the road, District Magistrate Anil Verma said. State and Central government offices did not function despite few officials turning up.

Shiv sena leader shot dead

A Shiv Sena leader was shot dead at Saki Naka in north-west Mumbai on Wednesday morning by an unidentified person. The police said Ramchandra Laxman
Agle, the Sena’s Ghatkopar unit chief, was shot dead near his house while he was going to a medical store with his wife.

Earthquake rocks North-East

An earthquake of moderate
intensity measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale rocked parts of the
North-East region at 3.38 am on Wednesday, the Central Seismological
Centre here said. The tremor, which lasted five seconds, was
epicentered at Churchandrapur in Manipur. There were no reports of
