Gill, Chief General Manager, Himachal Telecom Circle, today while inaugurating a state-of-the-art exchange, 512 lines C-dot SBM with reliable OFC media, at Fagu in Shimla district. He said the Himachal Pradesh Telecom circle is going to achieve its targets of 60,000 additional telephones and 4,000 village public telephones (VPT) by March 31. It has been decided that latest technologies will be used to cover all villages in remote areas. The technologies are TDMA, PMP (time domain multiple access point to multi point), WLL (wireless in local loop) and INMARSAT (Satellite telephones). He also mentioned that all old VPTs which were earlier provided on MARR systems and are faulty, would be replaced by suitable alternatives. Mr Gill claimed that Internet services provided in the state by the BSNL were better than any other service providers. After the commissioning of the C-DOT 512 SBN and with OFC link the Internet services will improve in Fagu area where there had been some complaints regarding Internet services. Internet dhaba’s would be provided in all block headquarters in the state. One B-node in Shimla lock and C-nodes in all other SSAs headquarters has already been commissioned.
