Read under headings Max (maximum temperature), Min (minimum temperature), R (rainfall in past 24 hours) and TR (Total rain since January 1):
Chandigarh, March 21 The dry spell and the unusual rise in temperatures had been worrying the farmers as the grains in the wheat crops had started shrivirling. Weathermen here attributed the sudden change in the weather to the western disturbances over J and K and the neighbourhood, coupled with upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana, extending up to 3.1 above sea level. The systems could cause hailstorms and thunder squalls of 45 km velocity in Punjab and Haryana, besides causing spells of snow or rains in the two hill states over the next 48 hours. However, the weathermen here did not forecast any rain in Delhi where the maximums stayed three to four degrees above normal. The entire forward area, including Leh, the headquarters of northern-most Ladakh district, reported fresh spells of snowfall since yesterday. The minimum temperature at Thoise and in other forward areas dipped to -5°C. The Mandi region was lashed by a high-velocity windstorm followed by rain this evening, disrupting telecommunications and power supply in some areas. UNI Thundershowers likely
