Charges to be framed
New Delhi, February 27
A Delhi court today ordered the framing of charges against 16 accused, including cinema hall owners Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal, in the Uphaar fire tragedy case which claimed 59 lives here in June 1997, during the screening of Hindi blockbuster “Border”. Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Sehgal, who pronounced the order in a jam-packed court-room, fixed April 9 to read out the charges to each accused and ask if they would plead guilty or prefer trial. Akash testfired
Chandipur-on-sea, February 27
India’s most sophisticated medium range surface-to-air missile ‘‘Akash’’ was successfully testfired from the interim test range(ITR) here today. The missile, a part of India’s integrated guided missile development programme, was testfired at 12.36 p.m. from the ITR. UNI
