Hepatitis-B vaccination camp

DORAHA, Feb 27 — The Rotary Club here organised the third vaccination camp against hepatitis-B at five different venues on Sunday. According to Dr (Mrs) Gursharan Sidhu, president, Rotary Club, Doraha. 3,000 persons were vaccinated against hepatitis-B at Mangat Nursing Home, Civil Dispensary, Manu Nursing Home, Sidhu Hospital at Doraha and primary health centre at Payal. Mr D.S. Jaggi, Secretary of the club told that the high-quality injections were provided at concessional rate of Rs 100 and Rs 50 for adults and children, respectively.

Circuit House being spruced up for Deve Gowda

LUDHIANA, Feb, 27 — Staff of the Circuit House here is working overtime to spruce up the building in connection with the proposed visit of former Prime Minister H.D.Deve Gowda to the city on March 2. Peeled off plaster is being taken care of and old curtains are being replaced and the whole places is being cleaned up.

Janata Dal sources, confirming the visit today, told Ludhiana Tribune that the former Prime Minister would be arriving by train from Delhi .

He would be accompanied by Mr Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, President, Lok Bhalai party and communist leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet. Party workers would accord a warm welcome on their arrival at the local railway station at about 4 a.m.

Party sources here further told that after a brief stop-over at the Circuit House during which he may also address a press conference, Mr Gowda would leave for Barnala where they will take part in a kisan sammelan being organised by leftist parties.

During his visit, Mr Deve Gowda will also discuss ways and means to create a viable third front which could pose a challenge to the Akali-BJP combine in the coming Assembly polls. Janata Dal sources said efforts were already on to forge an alliance of anti-BJP and anti- Congress parties such as the BSP, the Leftist parties, the Lok Bhalai Party and the Janata Dal.
