MLA held for murder

Uttar Pradesh MLA Ateeq Ahmad has been arrested for his alleged complicity in the murder of a corporator in 1994, the police said today. The legislator was arrested yesterday in Chakia locality after a CID inquiry found his complicity in the murder of his one-time associate Ashfaq, SP (City) Lalji Shukla said here. PTI

Missiles testfired

Russia testfired nuclear-capable ballistic missiles from both land and sea today, the navy and strategic missile forces separately announced. The near-simultaneous launches came just two days after Russian warplanes, including nuclear-capable bombers, staged unannounced exercises near Japan and Norway amid a missile row with the USA.
