Poll for RS seats on February 22
NEW DELHI, Jan 29 (TNS) Elections to fill two vacant seats in the Rajya Sabha, including one from Punjab which has been declared vacant as incumbent member Barjinder Singh Hamdard did not attend the House for more than 60 days, will be held on February 22, the Election Commission (EC) announced here on Monday. The other vacancy to be filled is from Uttar Pradesh, caused by the death of member Chaudhary Chuni Lal. 

‘Burning’ passion costs him life
COIMBATORE, Jan 29 (UNI) He had a ‘burning’ passion for meditation, and offered himself to it. A 22-year-old student was burnt alive when he attempted to meditate encircled by fire at a village near Pollachi, about 60 km from here. The police said Kavirasu (22), a polytechnic student, embarked on his flaming mission on Saturday night when his parents were asleep. He was rushed to Coimbatore Medical College, Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
