NEW DELHI, Dec 31 — Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh. Very light rain has also occurred at isolated places in Punjab and Rajasthan. Weather was dry in the rest of the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose appreciably in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were markedly above normal. Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, above normal in Haryana, Punjab and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 5.2 C recorded at Ambala.

Forecast valid until the morning of January 2: Rain or snow will occur at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana, Punjab, east Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and at a few places in west Rajasthan.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during next 24 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 2: Generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of light rain/thundershowers. Minimum temperature will be around 10 C.

Farmers’ weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of January 2: Light rain will occur at many places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Heavy snowfall in Garhwal

DEHRA DUN, Dec 31 (PTI) — Higher reaches of Garhwal and Knmoun Himalayas today received heavy snowfall intensifying cold wave in the entire region, officials said.

One to three feet of snowfall was recorded in Gangotri, Yamnotri, Gomukh and other areas in Garhwal Himalayas, they said.
