Russia, India sign deal for SU-30 jets
MOSCOW, Dec 28 (DPA) — Russia and India today sealed their largest ever joint defence deal with an agreement on the licensed production of the Russian SU-30 jet fighter for the Indian Air Force. Representatives of the Irkutsk Aviation Production Association and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd signed a $ 3 billion contract in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, the Itar-Tass news agency said. The Indian company will produce 140 fighters under licence over 17 years.

3 killed in firing
RANCHI, Dec 28 (UNI) — At least three persons were killed when the police opened fire on a mob which turned violent after a girl was run over by a Jharkhand armed police truck near Rajendra Chowk in the Doranda area here today. The mob had torched seven vehicles, including a fire engine and the motor cycle of a journalist. Local residents prevented the police from coming near the accident site by pelting stones.
