Amritsar reels under 0.7°C CHANDIGARH, Dec 24 (UNI) — Amritsar today faced intense cold-wave conditions as the minimum temperature dropped to 0.7°C. Leh, was reeling under -13°C while the higher reaches had fresh spells of snowfall during the past 24 hours. Srinagar had the minimum temperature of -2.2°C which was two degrees below normal. Jammu reported the low of 8.5°C, one degree below normal. Dry weather continued to grip most of the northwestern region. Slight changes in the minimum temperature and ground frost at isolated places in Punjab have been forecast for two nights to come. Shimla and Mandi recorded the minimum temperatures at around 7.5 °C and 5.3 °C, three and two degrees above normal, respectively. Bhuntar, however, had a near-normal temperature low of 0.8 °C. Ambala, reporting the low of 3.5 °C, two degrees below normal, turned out to be the coldest place in Haryana followed by Rohtak with 4.9 °C. Patiala and Ludhiana saw the minimum today dipping by one degree and recorded 5.2 °C and 6.4 °C, respectively. Delhi experienced the coldest morning today with the minimum dipping to 4.9 °C, three degrees below normal. People in and around Chandigarh were luckier as the minimum rose to 8 °C, one degree above normal.
