Honoured for research

LUDHIANA, Dec 24 — Dr P.P. Gupta, Additional Director of Research, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, has been awarded Dr Nemi Chand Jain and Jawahar Lal Vegad award for the outstanding research contributions in pathology during the last five years, by the Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists(IAVP).

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a certificate was given at a special function organised by the IAVP on December 12, 2000, at Maharashtra Agricultural University, Akola. Dr Jain, who is an NRI and has instituted this award from the year 2000, himself travelled all the way from USA to give the prize.

Recently Dr Gupta has also won the national-level outstanding teacher award by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Other awards bestowed on him are Science Pioneer Prize from Egypt, ICMR award for his work on Atheroschlerosis, team research and best teacher awards given by ICAR, Meritorious Teacher Award of the PAU and fellowships of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences.
