Namdhari to be Jharkhand Speaker
RANCHI, Nov 21 (UNI) — Janata Dal (United) legislator and NDA nominee Inder Singh Namdhari will be the first Speaker of the newly constituted Jharkhand Assembly as his candidature has been unanimously accepted by the Opposition. The Speaker’s election is slated for tomorrow. The Opposition, which had earlier decided to contest the election, today decided to support Mr Namdhari’s candidature and withdrew its candidates from the fray.

Medicine scam
CHENNAI, Nov 21 (UNI) — A complaint against Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandry Minister Pulavar Senguttuvan was filed in a sessions court, alleging irregularities to the tune of Rs 8 crore in the purchase and supply of veterinary medicines. Principal Sessions Judge S. Ashok Kumar, before whom the complaint was filed, directed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to file by December 8, a report on whether a case was registered or complaint was pending.
