Traders issue ultimatum
CHANDIGARH, Oct 3 — The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) today served one-month ultimatum on the Chandigarh Administration to withdraw resumption notices issued to a large number of shopkeepers in the city.

Monthly loss of 40 lakh for MC
SAS NAGAR, Oct 3 — Prevailing recession in the industrial sector is casting its shadow on the revenue collection of the SAS Nagar Municipal Council, which forms a major part of its octroi collection from the units located here. Low production by some of the major industrial units here, which contribute around 75 per cent of the total income from octroi, has been resulting in a loss of around Rs 40 lakh per month to the civic body.

CHANDIGARH, Oct 3 —The owner of Singla Traders and Suppliers, SCF 8, Sector 7-C, Iswar Das, was sent to one-year rigorous imprisonment today by the UT Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr Sant Parkash, in a prevention of food adulteration case.

Teacher dies in hit-and-run incident
CHANDIGARH, Oct 3 — Mrs Suman Ghai, a 38-year-old school teacher at Government High School, Sector 38, was fatally injured when her two wheeler was reportedly hit from behind this morning by an unidentified vehicle at the level crossing near the Modern Housing Complex at Manimajra.
