13 kids die in
disco stampede
DURBAN,
March 25 (PTI) Thirteen school Children of Indian
origin were killed and 44 injured, some of them
seriously, when a tear gas canister triggered a stampede
at a crowded discotheque here, the police said. The Throb
Nightclub, situated in the mainly-Indian colony of
Chatsworth, was packed with more than 1,000 children who
were celebrating the end of their school term yesterday,
when one of them released a tear gas canister creating a
chaos, police spokesman Bala Naidoo said.
