Four intruders killed
JAMMU, Oct 16 (PTI) — Four intruders were shot dead by the Army which foiled two intrusion bids along the line of control in Rajouri and Poonch Sectors of Jammu and Kashmir early today.

Three intruders were killed in an exchange of fire with the security forces in Kalal area of Rajouri, official sources said.

Another infiltration bid was foiled in Poonch Sector where Army personnel repulsed the intruders, killing one of them in an exchange of fire.

An AK-47 rifle and a radio set were seized from the encounter site.

Militants struck in Anantnag district killing two persons in Herward Dooru and Adlash Bijbehara last night.

A militant threw a grenade at a police post in the same district which missed the target and exploded on the road without causing any damage. The militant was nabbed by the police and is being interrogated.

A possible tragedy was averted when security personnel on patrol duty detected a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants on a busy road at Sumbal-Khurhama on the outskirts of the Srinagar.

The device was immediately defused by a bomb disposal squad.

Militants also threw grenades at the police post in Hawal Chowk in Srinagar which missed the target and fell near a shop, partially damaging it.

During search operations the security forces arrested two militants each from hideouts at Banihal in Doda and Pattan in Baramulla district and seized a number of arms and explosives.
