ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 — Pakistan today rejected India’s offer of a no-first use pact on nuclear weapons, even as both the sides agreed to form a joint panel of experts to explore mutual confidence measures and "full range" of peace and security issues.

OSLO, Oct 16 — Mr John Hume and Mr David Trimble today won the Nobel Prize for Peace for their efforts to resolve the three-decade-old northern Ireland conflict culminating in the peace agreement signed this spring.

’84 riots: HC upholds death penalty of 3
NEW DELHI, Oct 16 — The Delhi High Court today upheld the death sentence of three persons found guilty of murder during the 1984 riots by the trial court, but acquitted two more due to lack of evidence against them.

JODHPUR, Oct 16 — Matinee idol Salman Khan, under arrest here since October 12 on charges of poaching protected antelopes, was today remanded in judicial custody till Oct 26 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court which rejected his plea for bail.

MALJODA (Akhnoor), Oct 16 — BSF Head Constable Mannu Singh, hailing from Itawa in Uttar Pradesh, had purchased some new garments and toys for his children. He was due to leave the BSF post on October 15 to go to his village after his leave application had been sanctioned. He wanted to be with members of his family on Divali.
