Flood waters receding, lakhs still await help

SRINAGAR: Flood waters receded further in Kashmir Valley on Thursday enabling rescue teams to evacuate another 2,000 stranded people and provide crucial supplies for people desperately waiting for help in submerged areas.

Chandigarh: Himachal Congress MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary was today acquitted of charges of murdering a former woman employee by a court in Panchkula.District and Sessions Judge Roopam Singh acquitted the MLA from Doon constituency and five others citing "discrepancies" in evidence produced by police.

125 choppers, aircraft engaged in relief and rescue operations
Jammu, September 10
Over 125 helicopters and aircraft have been pressed into service by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to evacuate people across the flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir and provide food material to the cut-off areas of the state under the operation ‘Rahat-II’. This is one of the biggest rescue operations launched by the Air Force, Air Commodore PE Patange, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Jammu, told The Tribune.
