Justice Ganguly’s conduct of sexual nature: SC panel

Justice (retd) AK GangulyThe Supreme Court’s three-judge panel has prima facie found that retired judge AK Ganguly’s behaviour with a law intern at a five-star hotel in the National Capital Delhi on Christmas eve last year was “unwelcome” and of “sexual nature”.

Uttarakhand IAS officer suspended
Dehradun, December 5
In another setback to Additional Secretary JP Joshi, who is in jail on the charges of sexual assault, the government suspended him from his service here today. The General Administration department of the secretariat issued the order of his suspension. Chief Secretary Subash Kumar said the suspension order has been issued on chief minister’s approval.

Haryana Govt chargesheets Ashok Khemka

The Haryana Government has chargesheeted whistleblower IAS officer Ashok Khemka over cancellation of a land deal between UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s businessman son-in-law Robert Vadra and realty major DLF in October last year.

Cabinet nod to Telangana with 10 dists
New Delhi, December 5
The Union Cabinet on Thursday cleared a parliamentary Bill for creation of Telangana state comprising 10 districts. The country’s 29th state would be carved out of Andhra Pradesh.

Cong ready to unveil jumbo PPCC
New Delhi, December 5
In the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress high command has approved a please-all, jumbo committee for its Punjab unit, accommodating the wishes and concerns of all senior party leaders from the state. Once announced, this Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) will be the largest ever. The soon-to-be-announced PPCC will have over 260 members, with around 158 in the executive committee alone, party top sources told The Tribune.

In North, Punjab tops in school education
New Delhi, December 5
Punjab has been ranked among the top 10 Indian states in the just-released school education statistics, improving its position from 13th in 2012 to sixth in 2013. While Lakshadweep continues to be the best state as far as school education and infrastructure are concerned, the rest of the north Indian states are ranked far behind Punjab. Himachal occupies the 12th slot, one slip from its former rank of 11th.
