Barnala
17 injured in road mishap: Around 17 persons, including 12 teachers, on Sunday sustained injuries when a mini-bus and a car collided on Barnala-Bathinda road near Ghunas village. The injured were admitted to Barnala Civil Hospital. The police said a case would be registered after recording the statements of the injured persons.

of Health Services: Dr Karanjit Singh has taken over as Director, Health Services. He had been posted as Director, Family Welfare, an official press release said here on Sunday. Dr Karanjit Singh joined Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) in 1980 and was posted as Medical Officer in Amritsar district. Besides serving as the Registrar of Government Medical College, Amritsar, he has served in areas related to reduction in Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Ratio.

Migrant labourer found murdered: A 40-year-old migrant labourer was found murdered at a farmhouse in Mehlanwali village. The victim, Ram Deen of Bihar, was residing at a farmhouse owned by Subhash Sharma. His body with his throat slit with a sharp weapon was found on Sunday morning. Another labourer Raju, who also lives at the farmhouse, has been taken into custody, the police said.
