Migrant labourer booked for murder:
The Garhdiwala police has booked a migrant labourer, Muni Lal, for allegedly murdering farmer Gurmeet Singh of Darapur here on Wednesday. Muni, who had been working for Gurmeet for over 40 years, fled from the spot after committing the crime. Gurmeet stayed alon as his family resided in Canada. The deceased’s maid Asha Rani had complained that Muni killed Gurmeet in a scuffle.

Sangrur
123 km rail line to be electrified:
The electrification work on 123-km-long ‘Jakhal-Lehragaga-Sunam-Sangrur-Dhuri-Malerkotla-Ludhiana’ railway section will begin soon. The project that is to cost Rs 126 crore will be completed in two years. Sangrur Member of Parliament (MP) Vijay Inder Singla said the foundation stone of the project would be laid on November 17. Besides, signaling system and token-less facility would also be installed at a cost of Rs 50 crore, he said.

168 examined at health camp:
Rotary Chandigarh, Shivalik, held a Free Health Camp at the Government School, Kajheri village today. As many as 168 patients were examined and free-of-cost medicines given to them. The specialties and services available at the camp included gynecology, skin diseases, ENT, psychiatry, paediatrics, general medicine, laboratory, pharmacy etc. Dr Atul Sachdev, director, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, presided over the health camp. 

Former PGI doctor passes away: A former head of the department of gynaecology, Dr Kamala Dhall, passed way. She worked in the department for 28 years from the year 1964 to 1992. She is survived by her husband, Dr GI Dhall, and two daughters.
