Cong dishes out more unity advice to Punjab unit
New Delhi, October 26
Convening a second high-level meeting of the faction-ridden Punjab Congress in less than a fortnight today, the party high command directed all units to work in tandem. The meeting comes in the wake of Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa’s move to call a meeting of senior state MLAs on Saturday, ahead of Congress Legislature Party leader Sunil Jakhar meeting with party legislators on October 28. Today’s luncheon meeting was chaired by Congress general secretary in charge of Punjab Shakeel Ahmed.

Parents of six minor students of the Dalit community here have stopped sending their children to a nearby school after some of their wards were allegedly stripped and paraded “as punishment” on Thursday. Though the police claim that no formal complaint has been lodged, the aggrieved parents have decided to launch protest against police inaction.
