Wheat scam: Three policemen suspended
Abohar, October 25
CIA staff Assistant Sub Inspector Gurmit Singh, head constables Som Parkash and Balkar Singh have been placed under suspension reportedly in the wake of a wheat scam here. It is believed that they had tried to help the accused in the scam. Notably, the city police had seized 400 bags of wheat that were allegedly stolen from a government storage centre in connivance with Food and Civil Supplies and Punsup officials recently.

32 heads of cattle rescued
Ferozepur, October 25
The Ferozepur police today rescued 32 bulls and oxen who were being taken to a slaughter house. Sources said acting on a compliant of the Gau Rakhya Committee Dal, the police recovered the bulls and oxen that were being transported in a clandestine manner.

Wheat scam: Three policemen suspended

Abohar, October 25
CIA staff Assistant Sub Inspector Gurmit Singh, head constables Som Parkash and Balkar Singh have been placed under suspension reportedly in the wake of a wheat scam here.

It is believed that they had tried to help the accused in the scam. Notably, the city police had seized 400 bags of wheat that were allegedly stolen from a government storage centre in connivance with Food and Civil Supplies and Punsup officials recently.

Investigations had indicated that at least 600 bags of wheat, each weighing 50 kg, were siphoned off from the state government storage centre located in Ramsara village. A businessman, Gurdarshan Singh alias Paramjit, alias Pamma, was arrested for the offence. Bhupinder Singh and Laxman Dass, working as inspector and public distribution scheme clerk in the Department of Food and Civil Supplies and Punsup, were booked. — OC

32 heads of cattle rescued

Ferozepur, October 25
The Ferozepur police today rescued 32 bulls and oxen who were being taken to a slaughter house.

Sources said acting on a compliant of the Gau Rakhya Committee Dal, the police recovered the bulls and oxen that were being transported in a clandestine manner.

The police said Nawab Khan had been arrested while the two other accused identified as Gurdeep Singh and Imran were on the run. — OC
