India and China today took a leap towards reducing recurring tensions across the border and promised to strengthen cooperation on trans-border rivers, even as New Delhi delayed a pact for a liberalised visa regime.

Onion prices continued to hover at record highs of Rs 90 per kg for the third day today with no sight of respite as Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said rates will remain high for two-three more weeks.

M’rashtra’s view sought on reducing Dutt’s term
New Delhi, October 23
The Home Ministry has sought opinion of the Maharashtra Government on reducing sentence of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and two other convicts in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts. The move came after Press Council of India chief Markandey Katju petitioned President Pranab Mukherjee seeking relief for the actor and two others, including a 70 year-old women, on humanitarian grounds.
