City gets direct rail connectivity to Nainital

With the introduction of the weekly 14605/14606 Amritsar-Lal Kuan AC Express by the Northern Railway on October 2, city residents can travel by rail to Nainital, the city of lakes and prominent tourist destination in Uttarakhand. The Lal Kuan railway station is 24 km from Nainital and the journey by road takes nearly half an hour.
168 dengue cases in district
Ludhiana, October 4
With the dip in temperature, there has been spurt in dengue cases in the district. By now, 168 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported in Ludhiana district alone.
District Epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said, "Today 33 cases tested positive for dengue from the district who are under treatment at the DMC Hospital and ESI Hospital.
40 injured in bus accident

Nearly 40 bus passengers had a providential escape after the bus driver lost control over the vehicle and it ran off the National Highway- I (NH-I) and its tyre got stuck in the muddy road. The vehicle tilted on the right side and leaned along the under-construction flyover.

Members of the Jain community took out a protest in the Ghumar Mandi area and demanded hanging for the killer of Vidhu

Vidhu was burnt to death over the issue of kite string in Malerkotla nearly a week ago. Politicians cutting across the party lines joined the protesters. Even other religious and social organisations joined the protest.

Blood donation camp

25-yr-old woman commits suicide

A 25- year - old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in New Amar Nagar in Salem Tabri here today. The deceased has been initiated as Vaishali. She was under depression as she recently suffered a miscarriage, he husband, Sanjiv, said.
Gun house owner booked for replacing US revolver

Owner of the Fauji Gun House, located on Brindawan Road, was booked for fraud and replacing the original US made .32 revolver with a fake one.
The accused, identified as Ravinder Kumar alias Deepu, is on the run. A case has been registered on the complaint of Paramjit Kaur. She has stated in her complaint that before leaving for Canada she submitted her revolver at the Fauji Gun House.
