PM’s words go unheard; PGI main gate to remain closed

In a thought-defying decision, the UT Administration and the Chandigarh Police have planned to keep the main gate of the PGI closed due to the Prime Minister's visit despite instructions issued by him after his visit to the city four years ago that they should be "more sensitive to the concerns of the common man" while imposing restrictions for reasons of security.

4,000 personnel to keep vigil in city

Around 4,000 personnel of the Chandigarh Police will provide security to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his visit to the city tomorrow.

The Revenue and Police Department could not identify the accused involved in the Forest land scam till now. Though, an FIR was registered against Shiv Dyal, son of Babu Singh, a resident of Peer mucchalla village, and some unidentified accused under Sections 420, 465,467,471 and 120B of the IPC but no one has been identified and arrested in the case.

IT survey at poultry farms yields

An undisclosed income of Rs 11.15 crore was surrendered by four poultry farms at Barwala in Panchkula district after a survey was conducted by the Income Tax Department here today. It was a 36-hour operation by the officials of the department that started last afternoon and concluded this evening.
Samaritans extend help to rape victim
