Audit report finds fault with LIT

There seems to be no end to the woes of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) when it comes to the internal audit, which continues to unveil more and more financial irregularities and lapses. Now, it has been indicted for its failure to act against defaulters among allottees of 81 middle income group (MIG) flats constructed in Maharishi Valmiki Nagar Colony of the LIT.

Mother, maternal uncle booked

A day after 19-year-old youth Ram Partap's body was found from an auto-rickshaw near Nanaksar Gurdwara, the city police today booked his mother Radhika and his maternal uncle Bhure Lal, a resident of Sunet village, for abetment to suicide and dumping the deceased's body to eliminate evidence.

Get websites ready by Sept 15, schools told

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has given time till September 15 to all the schools to make their websites with comprehensive information about their setup and management, failing which the registration to classes IX and XI will not be done by the board.

Hike in reward for exposing tax evaders soon

Detection of tax evasion is going to become lucrative for revenue officials as the government has planned a massive jump in their rewards. To encourage the staff of the customs, service and excise departments to unearth cases of tax evasion, the government is planning to raise the amount of the rewards by 10 fold. The reward scheme was introduced in 2001.
BJP Mandal protests against Pakistan

Minor girl kidnapped

Four injured in accident
