Four booked for demanding dowry

Tarn Taran, May 24
Four members of a family of Harike village, 35 kilometres from here, have been booked for demanding dowry. The accused have been identified as Navtej Singh, his father Ranjit Singh, mother Sukhjit Kaur and younger brother Gurwinder Singh. The case has been registered on the complaint of Sarabjit Kaur, wife of Navtej Singh. Reports said the couple got married two years back. Sarabjit alleged that the accused had been torturing her for dowry and were forcing her to bring a Tat Safari vehicle besides Rs 5 lakh cash.

Body found

Phagwara, May 24
A man, identified as Sheetal Ram (35) of Mehsampur village, was found murdered with sharp-edged weapons on roadside in Ghurrka village on Wednesday night here. 
Reports said the victim had gone to bring his wife back from his in-laws' house, whom he had a quarrel with. 
Some youths of the village saw his body lying on the road in a pool of blood and raised an alarm. — OC
