The boundary dispute, against the backdrop of the recent incursion by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Ladakh, will top the agenda of talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang who arrives here on Sunday on a three-day visit to India.

Li, who assumed the Premiership in March, is keen on visiting India realising the huge potential of Indian market for Chinese economy

Suggesting that the recent Ladakh incursion by China has cast a “dark shadow” over its relations with India, a former envoy has said the Beijing leadership after having resolved the issue in a mature manner will have the opportunity to tell New Delhi the reason behind the move.

Punjab panchayat elections today, 1.1 cr voters hold key
Chandigarh, May 18
The stage is set for Sunday's elections to elect 331 members of 22 Zila Parishads and 2,902 members of 146 Panchayat Samitis across Punjab. As many as 38,000 policemen have been deployed at 19,350 polling booths, of which 2,650 have been declared sensitive, after the state witnessed one of its bloodiest campaigning in recent electoral history.

Coal probe head, 3 others in CBI custody
New Delhi, May 18
Senior CBI officer Vivek Dutt, who headed the coal scam probe team, and three others were today sent to three days in the agency’s custody by a Delhi court for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 7 lakh from a businessman to favour him in a land dispute case.
