Golf club brawl issue ends in compromise
Chandigarh, May 18
Milkha Singh comes out of the District Courts in Chandigarh on Saturday. Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, along with four other accused in the case pertaining to a brawl at Chandigarh Golf Club, today appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court at the District Courts in Sector 43 here.

Mohali fares poorly in Class XII results
Mohali, May 18
Arshdeep Kaur Batth, who has topped Mohali district, with her mother. Despite having good infrastructure and teachers, Mohali district fared poorly in the Class XII results of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), which were declared today. Only four students from the district could make it to the board’s overall merit list (OML), which has 336 students from Punjab and other states. As many as 136 students from Ludhiana district figure on the merit list.

Delhi cops seize CCTV footage from Marriott
Chandigarh, May 18
A team of the Delhi police today visited Hotel JW Marriott in Sector 35, where the IPL teams stayed during their visits to Chandigarh. The police seized the records of the guests that had stayed in the hotel on May 8 and 9.

Help comes to train robbery injured after two hours
Chandigarh, May 18
Kajal, who was injured during a robbery on the Jan Sewa Express, at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. A 10-year-old girl, Kajal, who suffered an injury after robbers opened fire on the Jan Sewa Express yesterday, had not been provided any medical aid by the railway authorities for more than an hour. Adding to her family's woes, no Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel came to help them at the Rajpura station where the train halts for only two minutes. The family managed to get medical aid for her after half an hour when the train reached the Ambala station.

1,330 police personnel deployed in Mohali

Police seeks voice samples of accused MLA’s wife
Panchkula, May 18
In a major development in the Jyoti murder case, Doon MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary’s wife Nidhi in her police interrogation did not cooperate much with the police officials and preferred to remain monosyllabic. To all the questions asked by them, she just replied ‘No’.

20 file nominations for P’kula MC polls

4 cops face probe

The investigation conducted by the Chandigarh police into the death of Sharmila Gupta has recommended departmental inquiry against assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and three women constables. PSEB Class XII results: 14 Patiala students on merit list

Charges framed in molestation case
Chandigarh, May 18
A local court today framed the charges in the molestation case involving a four-year-old girl, reported in March this year. The accused has been charged under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC and other provisions related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Court dismisses plea
Chandigarh, May 18
The court of Judicial Magistrate, Chandigarh, Dr Ashok Kumar, today dismissed the plea of Hyderabad-based promoters of Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited (DCHL) and other company officials seeking exemption from personal appearance in the cheque bounce case amounting to Rs 6 crore.

2 students held for teasing girl

Two BTech students were arrested by the Chandigarh police for eve-teasing a girl in Sector 11. The victim, a postgraduate student of Panjab University, complaint to the police that the accused, who were in a car, misbehaved with her.

ITBP personnel being taken for medical check-up at the GMCH, Sector 32, in Chandigarh on Saturday. The incident of two ITBP personnel arrested for depositing cash Rs 3,06,500, out of which 65 currency notes amounting to Rs 65,000 were found counterfeit, has brought the role of several ITBP officials posted at the paramilitary force’s basic training centre in Panchkula and Jalandhar under the police scanner. The said amount was being deposited in the accounts of 18 under-training recruits.

Former councillor, son booked for opening fire
Chandigarh, May 18
Former Municipal Corporation councillor Anil Dube and his son have been booked by the Chandigarh police under the Arms Act for reportedly opening fire on Friday night. A case has been registered against them at the Mani Majra police station and an inquiry has been initiated.

CLTA signs protocol with Madrid Tennis Foundation
Chandigarh, May 18
Trainees with the CLTA officials and members of the Madrid Tennis Foundation in Chandigarh on Saturday. The Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) signed a protocol with Madrid Tennis Foundation (MTF), today. The protocol that is signed for three years will exchange programmes, including training and coaching systems. The world's top tennis coaches from Spain will visit the CLTA to upgrade the training facilities, help the coaches and provide latest skills to trainees.

Sabrang emerges winner in tennis tournament
Chandigarh, May 18
A local tennis player and CLTA trainee, Sabrang Sandal, defeated Digvijay Pratap Singh in the finals of the AITA Tennis Tournament for boys (U-14) at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Tennis Complex, Amritsar.
