Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf arrested
New Delhi, April 19 (ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has been arrested from his farmhouse in Islamabad on Friday, a day after his bail was cancelled by the Islamabad High Court, in a case related to the dismissal of judges when he was Pakistan's president. Musharraf dramatically fled the Islamabad high court yesterday after judges ordered his arrest. The former president had returned back to Pakistan for contesting the parliamentary elections in May, but the Pakistani court had disqualified him from Parliament elections.
JPC draft report gives clean chit to PM, Chidambaram; holds Raja guilty New Delhi, April 19 (ANI): The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the 2G spectrum scam has given a clean chit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the spectrum allocation case. The JPC’s draft report claims that neither the PM nor the finance minister were aware of the then telecom minister A Raja's dubious decisions.
CPI questions govt’s intention in sanctioning financial aid to Bihar
New Delhi/ Patna, April 19 (ANI): The Communist Party of India (CPI) has questioned the intentions of Congress party-led central government in sanctioning special financial aid of rupees 12000 crore to Bihar. Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari, who made the announcement about the aid, rubbished reports that it was an attempt on part of the union to woo the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) presently ruling Bihar along with the BJP.: Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma who recently triggered a political furore by accusing SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav of having "links with terrorists", has fired a fresh salvo against Mulayam. Beni has now said that the Samajwadi Party will win only four seats in the upcoming General Elections and there will be a funeral procession for the party after the polls.
