Mobile recovered in jail: Security personnel in Amritsar jail recovered a mobile phone without any SIM card from Kashmir Singh son of Gurdial Singh, a resident of Jajeani village today. A case under Section 420 of theI IPC and 42 of the Prisoner Act 1894 has been registered against
him. Superintendent Amrik Singh Waraich said the phone was of Nokia make and carrying IMEI No 354869025018466.

Man commits suicide: A 35-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his workshop on Dugri road today. The deceased was identified as Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Phase I,
Dugri. He had recently divorced his wife. The reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. A case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been registered.
Woman pickpocket held at
hospital: The city police nabbed a woman pickpocket from the civil hospital on Monday. She was reportedly active for the past one month and had committed a series of thefts. She allegedly cut bags of persons accompanying patients, while they were standing in the queue of the OPD, and fled with
the belongings. The police has recovered Rs 10,000 from her possession. A blade used for cutting bags was also seized. Mandi

UP man poisons kids to death: A resident of Uttar Pradesh, Gauri Shankar, allegedly killed his two children, Bittu (4) and Muskan (2), by giving them a poisonous substance at his house here on Monday. The children were rushed to the Civil Hospital where one of them was declared "brought dead" while the other passed away after some time. The police said the wife of the accused, Pooja, was away to a temple when the incident occurred. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered against Gauri Shankar, who is absconding. Moga
PPP postpones Moga meeting: The state-level meeting of the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP), which was to be held in Moga on Monday to constitute a new organisational set up, was called off at the last moment. PPP senior leader Bhagwant Mann said the meeting had been postponed as party president Manpreet Badal had to leave for New Delhi to attend a seminar. “The meeting will now be held in Moga on March 23,” he said. Freedom fighters defer hunger strike: Following an assurance from the administration, members of the district unit of the Punjab State Freedom Fighters Organisation have deferred their chain hunger strike for 15 days. The protest was to begin on Monday. Organisation's district general secretary Harinderpal Singh Khalsa said in case their demands were not met within 15 days, they would take to the path of protest.
