New Delhi, March 2
A day after oil companies raised petrol price by Rs 1.40 a litre, bulk prices of diesel for consumers such as railways, industry and defence has been hiked by almost Rs 1 per litre. The breather: an unsubsidised LPG cylinder will cost Rs 37.50 less.

MPs against clemency to rape accused
Parliament committee wants politicians covered by clause on aggravated sexual assault
New Delhi, March 2
The stage is set for the introduction of an anti-rape Bill in Parliament with the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha approving the Criminal Law Amendment Bill 2012 referred to it last December and also sending its recommendations on the recently promulgated anti-rape Ordinance.

Principal among 5 suspended in Delhi minor’s rape case
New Delhi, March 2
RAF personnel stand guard outside a police station in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on SaturdayA day after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a municipal school here, five persons, including the school inspector and principal, were suspended, an official said Saturday. “School inspector Balraj Singh, principal Neelam Karwal, class teacher Monica Kohli, school attendant Sushila and watchman Kailash have been suspended in the alleged sexual assault case at Mangolpuri Municipal Primary School,” B.K. Gupta, municipal commissioner, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), said.

Presence of toxic substances such as metals, nickel and uranium in the drinking water across the state continues to be a big headache for the Punjab Government. Arsenic and other toxic substances have been detected in more than 1,000 villages.
