CTU not keen to buy Volvo buses

It seems that the Chandigarh Administration is not keen on spending Rs 45 crore before March 31 to purchase Volvo buses.
Wary of facing probe in purchase the Volvo buses, each costing around Rs 89
lakh, the Administration is now seeking the advice of the Ministry of Home Affairs
(MHA) before taking the final decision. |

UID card not required for RC, DL
Chandigarh, March 2
The UID card or Aadhaar card will no longer be mandatory in Chandigarh for the registration of vehicles and for driving licences. The Chandigarh Administration today announced the withdrawal of the order through which the UID card was made compulsory.
P’kula cabbie robbed of SUV
Panchkula, March 2
A taxi driver was robbed of an SUV near the Saharanpur railway station last night.
The accused, who is a Baltana resident, hired a taxi from a taxi stand near the Amartex lights opposite Sector 15 in Panchkula.
No public darbar tomorrow

Once again the Chandigarh Administration has cancelled the public hearing session of the UT Administrator, Shivraj V
Patil. As Patil will be out of town, the Administration cancelled the public hearing session, which was scheduled for March 4.
It is learnt that the IT department of the Chandigarh Administration has received only two complaints for the hearing
session. This year, out of the four scheduled hearing sessions, Patil attended only one.

A day after cricket coach RP Chopra reportedly committed suicide at his residence in Sector 21, it was learnt that the cricket aspirant, who had lodged a complaint against the coach with the Vigilance Department, was allegedly demanding Rs 13 lakh to change his statement following which the victim slipped into depression and took the extreme step.

Direct recruitments held at PEC

Direct recruitments were held at the PEC University of Technology, seven years after the last recruitments in 2006. A total of 29 candidates have been offered appointments - seven at the professor level, five at the associate professor level and 17 at the assistant-professor level.
CBSE Class X exams begin
