Bahadurgarh set to get Metro train
Bahadurgarh, February 2 The project, which would cover seven stations and a distance of 11.182 km, is expected to be completed by March 2016, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,991 crore. Of this, the state government will contribute Rs 787.96 crore. Kamal Nath said it was needed to connect this side of Haryana with Delhi through Metro rail and it would drastically reduce the travel time between Bahadurgarh and Delhi. Lauding the role of Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda in bringing this project to Haryana, the Union Minister said it would expedite the pace of development in the state. The Chief Minister thanked the Union Minister for sanctioning the project and said the Metro rail link would prove to be a milestone in the development of Bahadurgarh. “We have a map for development of this town which will put it on a par with Gurgaon in the coming 5 to 7 years,” he added. Earlier, Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda said it took three years to get the project through as the authorities concerned in Delhi were reluctant for extension of Metro rail beyond Mundka, saying that it was sparsely populated. He said now the target was to get the Metro rail link extended to Asauda, where Metro station and bus stand would be at the same place. “We will also try to get electric train approved between Bahadurgah and Delhi within this month,” Deepender said, adding that while Rewari was connected to Rohtak via Jhajjar by laying a new rail line, three new rail lines were being laid in Haryana. Later, the Chief Minister also laid the foundations of 11 new developmental projects and inaugurated nine projects costing about Rs 2,250 crore in Bahadurgarh today. About 22 km from Sonepat and 10 km from Gohana, the proposed industrial estate is located on the Sonepat-Gohana Road on one side and Right Of Way (ROW) of the Sonepat-Jind Railway line on the other side. Focus on your case, CM tells Chautalas
Visibly elated at the massive gathering at the public meeting called to mark the stone-laying ceremony of the Metro rail project here, the Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on his political opponents, the Chautalas. The Chief Minister said he believed in politics of development and not of vendetta, as was being alleged by INLD leaders. Without naming anybody in particular but obviously referring to former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and his sons Ajay and Abhey, Hooda advised them to quit propaganda politics and concentrate on their legal

First IMT in PPP mode planned
Chandigarh, February 2 Sources said the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) had decided to develop an Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Lath-Bidhal on the Sonepat-Gohana Road in PPP mode. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had announced the setting up of an industrial estate with an area of 250-300 acres in Gohana in June 2008. The HSIIDC scouted various sites in and around Gohana before zeroing in on a site on the Gohana-Sonepat Road in revenue estates of Lath-Bidhal due to availability of canal water, good road connectivity and less fertile land. Sources said while Section 4 notice was issued in mid-January this year for 3,400 acres of land, residents of adjoining Katwal village, too, are keen that the industrial estate be expanded and extended to include their land as well. This is primarily due to the remuneration being offered to those in the revenue estates of Ladh and Bidhal as also on account of low productivity in the area. Sources in the HSIIDC said they were hopeful of roping in a private party to develop the industrial estate in about six months. “Since the resources needed to develop an industrial estate are immense, we decided to adopt the PPP mode in this sector as well. While the modalities are still being worked out, the private party will develop the area in which HSIIDC will have a share,” an official said. Sources said the top brass was of the opinion that developing an industrial estate on the PPP model would not only supplement the efforts of the HSIIDC in mobilisation of resources, funds and development but would at the same time, also work as a healthy competition to the HSIIDC. Sources in the government said the site had been identified considering the lower fertility of the land and the dire necessity to generate more employment opportunities in backward areas by developing more industrial infrastructure. |
Harassed by in-laws, police: Woman sits on fast
Fatehabad, February 2 Accusing the police of being hand in glove with her in-laws, Nidhi alleged that the police had been pressuring her to withdraw her complaint ever since her husband and his parents tried to kill her by giving poison laced tea. She alleged that while no action had been taken on her complaint about the attempt on her life, the police arrested her and her two uncles by implicating them in a false case at the instance of her in-laws. NIdhi was married to a trader at Bhattu Kalan in June last year. Last month, the woman was hospitalised and she alleged that her in-laws had made an attempt on her life by offering her tea mixed with poisonous substance. On her complaint, the police had booked her husband Suresh, father-in-law Mohan Lal and mother-in-law Angoori Devi under various sections of the IPC. A day later, when she returned to her home in Bhattu, she was allegedly taken to the Bhattu police station, where, she alleged, she was undressed
for frisking. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikas Dhankhar had later transferred SHO Jagdish Kumar, on whose orders Nidhi was stripped for frisking, because her in-laws suspected that she might be carrying some poison to implicate them by committing suicide. On January 24, Nidhi, whose father had died sometime back, sat on a dharna with her uncles Rajinder and Ajay outside her husband’s shop demanding a place to live in the house and monthly maintenance allowance for her survival. However, the police booked Nidhi and her uncles on the complaint of her in-laws and they were charged under sections 323 (assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 294 (obscene act) of the IPC. On January 26, the police arrested Nidhi and her uncles in the evening and put them in a lockup, where, she alleged, her uncles were brutally beaten up for “tarnishing the image of the police.” Next day, they were produced before a court, where they were released on bail. Sitting on an indefinite fast, Nidhi said the police would be responsible if anything happened to her. She has demanded proper case against her in-laws, quashing of FIR against her and restoration of her rightful place in her marital home with monthly maintenance money. Bhattu SHO Kuldeep Singh, however, maintained that the police was acting in a fair manner. He maintained that the woman’s in-laws had already been booked and the police was in the process of filing a challan against them. |
