Newly-appointed state BJP chief Kamal Sharma today ridiculed the Congress-led UPA Government for hiking the price of diesel saying it will hit the common man who was already reeling under the impact of inflation and price rise.

Slain sarpanch’s body cremated
Faridkot, January 18
The body of a former Akali sarpanch, who was killed in Aulakh village three days ago, was cremated today. The deceased’s family members had decided not to cremate the body till all the three accused in the case were arrested. One of the accused is a nephew of SAD(B) MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mantar Singh Brar.

New state BJP chief flays UPA Govt for diesel price hike

Ferozepur, January 18
Newly-appointed state BJP chief Kamal Sharma today ridiculed the Congress-led UPA Government for hiking the price of diesel saying it will hit the common man who was already reeling under the impact of inflation and price rise.

Earlier, on his arrival here, Kamal Sharma was accorded a warm welcome by the SAD-BJP leaders and party workers.

On his first visit to his home town after assuming charge as the state BJP chief, Kamal Sharma first went to the historic Gurudwara Jamni Sahib in Vajidpur where he paid obeisance and then drove through the various roads of the city and cantonment area in the form of a road show.

Kamal Sharma said he will work towards strengthening the relationship with the coalition partners in the state and ensure that the policies of the party are being followed at all levels.

Streamlining the party and according recognition to the workers was also a priority, he said. Sharma said he would put in all efforts for the development of this border area, which has been laggng behind in economic growth and infrastructural development.

On Thursday, the residents of the village staged a dharna in front of the SSP office. In the evening, the cops claimed to have arrested the three accused. The accused are in three-day police remand, said DSP Jaswinder Pal Sharma. — TNS
