Mumbai, November 21

Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, 25, the lone terrorist to be caught alive during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks four years ago, was hanged to death at 7.30 am amidst tight secrecy.  A short while after prison doctors declared him dead, Kasab was buried in the prison premises as neither his family members nor the Pakistani government came forward to claim his body, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan said here.

Execution may hit release of Sarabjit Singh

It was not a mere coincidence that India voted against a UN General Assembly resolution which called for a moratorium on executions just a day before Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist from the 26/11 Mumbai attack, was hanged at Pune’s Yerwada Jail.

Unprecedented appeals will decide the fate of Balwant Singh Rajoana, convicted of assassinating former Chief Minister Beant Singh, and Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, a former militant convicted in the bomb blast that injured Maninderjit Bitta besides killing nine others.

HC issues notice
Finally, Shruti’s parents win custody battle
Faridkot, November 21
The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Faridkot, today ordered the police to hand over the custody of 15-year-old Shruti to her parents after she repeatedly expressed her desire to be with them. Shruti's parents had on November 16 moved an application in the CJM's court, demanding her custody. The minor girl had been lodged at the Nari Niketan, Jalandhar, ever since she was brought from Goa, along with her alleged abductor Nishan Singh, on October 23.

FDI storm set to sweep Parliament’s winter session
New Delhi, November 21
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj with Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar in New Delhi on Wednesday. The stage appears set for a rocky start to the winter session of Parliament beginning tomorrow, with both the Opposition and the government taking rigid positions on the controversial issue of foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail sector.
