Admn begins survey
Bathinda, November 2 Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had asked Deputy Commissioner KK Yadav to ascertain which villages of Rampura Phul sub-division wanted to move to Maur. The CM issued the orders after lawyers in Rampura Phul, while claiming the support of several villages, opposed the transfer of 33 villages of their sub-division to Maur, in a representation to the government. Maur sub-division was created in early October. The state cabinet also approved the formation of the new sub-division. However, the government was yet to issue a notification. The Bar Association has claimed that the Phul sub-division would reduced to the level of a Tehsil if 33 villages were moved to the new sub-division. They also alleged that residents of the villages included in the Maur sub-division will have to travel a longer distance for legal or administrative work. The Bar Association also claimed that Maur has already 32 villages in its jurisdiction which is goon enough number for its new status. They claimed that residents of the villages were not aware that their respective panchayats had passed a resolution in favour of the new sub-division. Deputy Commissioner KK Yadav said he has visited some of the 33 villages to know their stand. "I have got a mixed response so far. I will be submitting my report to the government soon," he said. Sekhon had said panchayats of the villages had passed a resolution approving their inclusion in Maur sub-division. He also argued that the villages were part of the Maur Assembly constituency. The villages in question were Burj Mansaia, Jaid, Buggar, Jeond, Chotian, Pitho, Gill Kalan, Rampura, Kararwala, Jawahar Nagar, Ghurella, Bhaini Chuhar, Gharelli, Chowke, Badiala, Pirkot, Balloh, Kotra, Mandi Khurd, Bhunder, Gill Khurd, Mandi Kalan,Nandgarh Kotra, Dhade, Burj Mansa, Balianwali, Janduke, Dikh, Ramanwas, Sooch, Harkishanpura, Khokhar and Gill Khurd. |
