Badal not in race for post of V-P
Chandigarh, June 17
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is not in the race for the post of the Vice President. Though he has never been formally asked to be the vice presidential nominee of the National Democratic Alliance, the Punjab Chief Minister has made it clear that he was not keen to move out of the state.

Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire for the fourth time in the last five days and pounded Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) with mortar shells in Poonch district, promoting the Army to move an artillery battalion to forward posts in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector.

Shimla, June 17
Planning a trip to the Queen of Hills? Here's an advisory: Stock up on water. The local Municipal Corporation (MC) has formally introduced water rationing. That means various localities will get their supply on alternate days on a rotation basis. The MC authorities said the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) department has informed them the water level in the two main sources of Ashwani Khud and Gumma has declined substantially.

Three in every five differently-abled persons in India have no proof of their disability. Seventeen years after the government enacted the Persons with Disabilities Act in 1995 to make life easier for such persons, evidence from across the country shows that only 39.13 pc of them have been issued disability certificates.
