INLD’s Baswana files papers from Adampur
Hisar, November 12 The INLD nominee, Ram Singh Baswana, was accompanied to the office of the Returning Officer, Amardeep Jain, by former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala. The Congress nominee, Kulbir Singh Beniwal, was accompanied by Rajya Sabha Member Ram Prakash, minister Randeep Singh Surjewala and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh. Addressing party supporters after the INLD nominee filed his papers, Chautala said there was a discernible anti-Congress wave in the state and the Congress nominee was sure to lose his security deposit in the byelection. He said the HJC-BJP nominee was also likely to meet the same fate as the voters appeared intent on bringing the INLD back to power in Haryana. He said the Hooda government was sure to be ousted after the byelections to the Adampur and the Ratia seats. Baswana said he would serve the people of the constituency with all humility and ensure development of the area. Congress nominee Beniwal said, if elected, he would ensure proper development of the area during the remaining three years of the tenure of the Congress government. Claiming that his win was certain, he said the Bhajan Lal clan had only served its own interests during the past 43 years. He said the Adampur electors had made up their minds to end the hegemony of the Bhajan Lal family. Incidentally, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was not present when Beniwal filed his nomination. |
Cong’s Jarnail Singh nominated from Ratia
Ratia (Fatehabad), November 12 Addressing a public meeting after the Congress nominee filed his nomination papers, the Chief Minister rolled out official figures claiming that Chautala spent a sum of Rs 78.51 crore on Ratia, when he was the Chief Minister of Haryana between 1999 and 2005. In contrast, his government, Hooda said, had already spent Rs 272.92 crore on Ratia from 2005 till date. “These are all official figures, and if these statistics are found wrong, I will quit politics; otherwise, he should retire from politics and sit at home for befooling people,” Hooda said, throwing an open challenge to his bete noire Chautala, who has been alleging during his public meetings that Ratia has remained without any development during Hooda’s regime. Hooda alleged that the condition of farmers was pitiable when Chautala was at the helm, and villagers were put in jail for their failure to repay short-term agriculture loans for which the banks charged 11 to 12 per cent rate of interest. However, he reduced the rate of interest on these loans to 4 per cent and made a policy that no farmer would be put in jail and none’s agriculture land would be attached and auctioned for failure to repay the short-term cooperative loans. His government’s land acquisition policy, Hooda said, had made small farmers ‘crorepati’ overnight as the rates of their lands had gone up from Rs 2 to 3 lakh per acre earlier to Rs 30 to 35 lakh per acre now. Ashok Tanwar, MP from Sirsa, who is in charge of the campaign here, pooh-poohed LK Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra, and said the BJP veteran should set his own house in order first. |

Patient’s Kidney Removed Manish Sirhindi Tribune News Service
Panipat, November 12 The doctor had earlier been held guilty by the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate JB Gupta, in September 2009, who had also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 on the doctor, who runs a nursing home in the district. According to the case, Suresh Kumar, a resident of UP, had filed a complaint alleging that his wife, Komal, had reported pain in her abdomen, following which she was admitted to Geeta Nursing Home in June 2003. Dr SN Gupta told them that his wife had a stone in the kidney and she had to be operated upon at the earliest. Kumar got his wife operated at the nursing home, but she again reported pain in the abdomen in November 2005. Suresh got her examined by doctors at the PGI, who reportedly told him that one of her kidneys was missing, following which he and his relatives held a protest outside the nursing home. The police registered a case under Sections 326, 420 and 406 of the IPC and Sections 18 and 19 of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act against the doctor in November 2005. The couple then moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking justice from where the case was referred to the lower court. After hearing the prosecution and the defense counsel, the local court had held the doctor guilty. However, the doctor then moved the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, which stated that there was sufficient evidence on record to hold the doctor guilty of the wrongdoing and pronounced the verdict against him. |
