US firmly backs NSG clean waiver to India
New Delhi, June 30
The United States today assured New Delhi that it “strongly and vehemently” supported the clean waiver given to India by the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG) in September 2008 to undertake nuclear commerce. “I want to say that the US and the Obama Administration strongly and vehemently support the clean waiver to India.

18 children die at govt hospital in Kolkata; probe ordered
Kolkata, June 30
The death of 18 children, including some newborns, at the state-run Dr BC Roy Government Hospital for Children, Fulbagan, in east Kolkata today triggered protests by residents, prompting the state government to order an inquiry into the incident.

Tendulkar, Dhoni to fly Sukhoi soon

Cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni will soon don the flying suits, with the Defence Ministry clearing their flights in IAF’s mighty Su-30 MKI fighter jets. “Our proposal to fly the two cricketers in the Su-30s has been approved by the Defence Ministry and we are looking forward to their flight in Pune soon,” IAF officials said.

Petrol, diesel rates hiked again
New Delhi, June 30
The government today hiked petrol and diesel prices by a marginal Rs 0.27 a litre and Rs 0.15 per litre, respectively, following increase in the commission paid to petrol pump dealers. The government approved raising dealer's commission paid on petrol from Rs 1.218 per kilolitre to Rs 1,499 per kl, resulting in a Rs 0.27 per litre increase in retail price with effect from midnight tonight, an official said here.

Naval officer, actress found guilty in Neeraj Grover murder case
Mumbai, June 30
The sensational murder case of television executive Neeraj Grover came to a close today with the Mumbai Sessions Court finding Emile Jerome Mathew, a lieutenant in the Navy, guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Mathew's fiancée Kannada actress Maria Susairaj, who helped him chop Grover's body into pieces and dump it in an isolated forest, was found guilty of destroying evidence.
