Bangalore/New Delhi, May 16
The ruling Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) in Karnataka has taken the battle to save its government to New Delhi and plans to parade all its party legislators before President Pratibha Patil to prove its majority. Beleaguered Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa reached the national capital tonight along with his 121 MLAs. He will meet the President tomorrow.

Mamata to take over as Bengal CM on Friday

Carrying a big bouquet in her hands and a broad smile on her face, Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Chief Minister-designate Mamata Banerjee met Congress president Sonia Gandhi this afternoon and followed it up with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to invite them both to attend her swearing-in ceremony.

In a major embarrassment to Punjab, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) today blacklisted a premiere engineering college in Bathinda and debarred its principal and two teachers from all future academic collaborations after finding them guilty of aiding mass copying during the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) held at the institute on April 10 this year.
