Rs 1441 crore
for relining
of canals: The Punjab Government has decided to release Rs 1441.26 crore for the relining the Rajasthan and Sirhind feeder canals in the next four years. It also gave an approval in-principle for the Rs 540-crore Kandi canal stage-II project. The Irrigation Department has been asked to formulate a system for the regular cleaning of the canals in the state every year. The CM also asked the Principal Secretary (Irrigation and Power) to put the Rs 118.05-crore project of the canalisation of Sakki Nallah on the priority list.

Appointed: Dr Narinder Sandhu is new principal of Ramgarhia Girls College. While taking the charge as principal, she stressed the need for women education, apart from ensuring all-round development of the institution and stakeholders. The appointed principal stressed upon the urgency of computer education that should be imparted to students at all levels. “Further, participation of students in co-curricular activities along with academics can go a long way in enabling them to prove their worth,” she said.

Awareness camp: A drug awareness camp was organised on the premises of the SDM office by the local police. The SDM made people aware of the bad effects of drugs on their lives and urged the youths to shun it.
A similar camp was also organised by the Khamano truck union.
