Govt buys peace with Yadavs
Offers consultation on Bill; LS resumes after 3 days of disruption
New Delhi, March 11
Ruckus over the Women’s Reservation Bill ended today after the government bought peace with the Yadavs, assuring them of consultations with “all concerned” before the Bill was brought to the Lok Sabha. Peace made, the agitating Yadav trio allowed the House to run for the first time in three days, as discussions on the Union Budget commenced. They also “put on hold” their decision to withdraw outside support to the UPA, citing its irrelevance.

BJP MPs revolt against Women’s Bill
New Delhi, March 11
A near revolt has broken out on the issue of Women’s Reservation Bill in the BJP. To douse this fire, BJP parliamentary party chairman LK Advani invited 116 Lok Sabha MPs to his residence to placate them and make them come round to the party view.

House pardons Bhattal after Privileges panel censure
Chandigarh, March 11
Punjab Vidhan Sabha today saw lot of tense moments after the Privileges Committee of the House censured leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and recommended her expulsion for seven days after she was found guilty of insulting the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon and lowering the prestige of the Chair during the Winter Session. After an intense debate and opposing the verdict of the committee by Congress legislators, the House unanimously exonerated Bhattal on the recommendation of the Speaker.

SIT summons Modi in riots’ case
Ahmedabad, March 11
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was summoned for the first time for questioning in the 2002 riots after a Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) asked him to appear before it on March 21. Eight years after the post-Godhra riots, Modi suffered the ignominy of being the first-ever CM of any state to be called for questioning in connection with a criminal complaint after he and his administration were accused of aiding and abetting riots in one area here.

‘20,000 Punjabis attempt to migrate illegally every year’
