Fuel price cut likely by year-end
New Delhi, November 25
The government will cut petrol and diesel prices after
assembly elections are over on December 24, oil
minister Murli Deora said today. “The international prices
have fallen and there is an expectation that prices need
to be reduced. I am also of the opinion that they should
be reduced and that will happen after December 24,”

Andhra Pradesh Governor N.D. Tiwari, who is in the thick of a legal battle initiated by a 29-year-old man claiming to be his son, was today asked to appear before the Delhi High Court on December 16.

The drastic reduction in area under sugarcane cultivation in Haryana this year poses a threat to the working of 15 sugar mills in the state. With the sugarcane cultivation down by almost 40 per cent this year, most of the sugar mills will now be operating for only 50 per cent of the crushing season.
