Life term for Yadavs

Rejecting the prosecution’s plea of death sentence to the accused Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav in the Nitish Katara murder trial, Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur today awarded life imprisonment to the duo. “I have awarded life sentence to both the convicts as the case does not fall under the rarest of rare cases.

In Punjab, oil cos impose a Rs 300 limit
Chandigarh, May 30
Even as the Ministry of Petroleum has denied any hoarding of fuel, the oil marketing companies have allegedly started cutting down on the fuel supply to its retail outlets. Reports coming in from different parts of Punjab said most of the retail outlets were not selling fuel beyond Rs 300 to one consumer.

Police called in parts of Mumbai
Mumbai, May 30
Police personnel have been deployed at several petrol pumps across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane after petrol pumps in the area ran out of stocks. With petrol pumps putting up no supply boards for the past three days, tempers have been running high and motorists are getting into scuffles with employees of these pumps.

An inquiry conducted by chairman VAT Tribunal Punjab Justice M.M. Aggarwal (retired) into the conduct of two fellow members of the tribunal in a specific case has found both officials guilty of reversing their own orders with the presumption that the same has been done for “extraneous considerations”.

Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Mulayam Singh Yadav has asked for a special session of the Assembly to discuss the issue of reservation for Gujjars. Yadav, who is also national president of the Samajwadi Party, said he had asked Chief Minister Mayawati to convene a session of the Vidhan Sabha at the earliest.

2 Gujjars die in Sawai Madhopur
Jaipur, May 30
Two Gujjar protesters were killed and a policeman critically injured in fresh outbreak of violence at Sawai Madhopur, about 180 kilometeres from here, this morning. Four other cops were also injured in the incident. Gujjar protesters have sat on a dharna with the dead bodies at Kushalidharra, leading to the creation of a third sit-in protest site in the state, where dead bodies of slain protesters are being used by the Gujjars to barter for their demand for an ST status.
