Effigies burnt: Hundreds of activists of the youth wing of the SAD (B) burnt the effigies of the Chief Minister and the PPCC Vice-President before the office of the Deputy Commissioner to lodge their protest against the alleged corruption in mega projects dated by the state.
Camp for locals: A lok suvidha camp to redress the grievances of the locals was organised on Wednesday at Grain Market Complex. As many as 2000 persons attended the camp.

Three arrested: The local police has solved the theft of electric motors with the arrest of three persons. Those arrested have been identified as Paramjit Singh, alias Billa of Kharla, the kingpin of this gang, Gurnam Singh, alias Gama, and Ravinder Singh, alias Ravi, both of Chalang. As many as 14 electric motors had been seized from their possession.

PENSION SOUGHT: Various workers unions, including the Electricity Board Employees Federation, Sugar Mill Workers Union, FCI Workers Union, Trade Union Council, Punjab Roadways Workers Union and CPI, on Thursday issued a joint statement and demanded the restoration of pension for teachers of the aided schools, which had been stopped since 2003, and recruitment of teachers to the vacant posts to raise the standard of education. Mr Avtar Singh Gill, secretary, CPI, Jagraon, Bhupinder Singh, President, PSEB Employees Federation, Jagraon, demanded stern action against the anti-social elements in the wake of recent cases of theft and snatching.
AWARENESS PROGRAMME : Dr Ashok Sharma, Chairman, Jagraon Citizen Welfare Council, disclosed that the council was going to organise a five-day awareness programme for women at Government High School, Swaddi Khurd, from December 24 to 28.
