Sachin Tendulkar’s sizzling unbeaten 141 went in vain as the West Indies won the rain-hit second one-dayer of the DLF Cup tri-series by 29 runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis method here today.

Koda to be sworn in on Sunday
A
ccording to sources in the Raj Bhavan, Madhu Koda was expected to be sworn in as the fifth Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Sunday. None of the four earlier Chief Ministers, Babulal Marandi and Arjun Munda (twice), both from the BJP, and Shibu Soren of the JMM, could complete their full five-year terms.

Tiger hit man Ghansar held guilty
Mumbai, September 14
The special TADA court hearing the 1993 Mumbai blasts case has found accused Mohammad Shoaib Kasam Ghansar guilty of carrying out one of the bomb blasts in Mumbai on March 12, 1993. Ghansar was found guilty of parking a two-wheeler fitted with explosives at Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazar which exploded killing 17 persons.

764 teachers in dock for poor results
All students in 26 schools in Punjab failed the boards!

As many as 764 teachers, of government schools, in Punjab will be chargesheeted for producing bad results in examinations conducted by various education boards. Orders in this regard were issued today.

Major shot dead by Naik
Jammu, September 14
Major Harsh Kumar was shot dead by his subordinate, Naik Ravi Kumar, at a forward picket at Gambhir Muglian in the Rajouri sector last night. A spokesman for the Army said the incident took place at a remote post of 38 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).

Graft cases: role of HCs in appointing special judges crucial, says SC
New Delhi, September 14
The Supreme Court today made it clear that the role of the high courts in the appointment of special judges to hold trial in corruption cases against public servants was important as only the high court has authority to grant power of jurisdiction to the designated judge to hear such cases.

Sensex breaches 12,000 mark
Mumbai, September 14
Sensex breached the 12,000 mark for the first time today since May 18 though it closed lower later in the day. After a high of 12,002, Sensex ended the day at 11,958. In the broader markets, Nifty surged 0.5 per cent or 17 points to end at 3471.
